Your New Mandarin Job Title: Mandarin speaking Senior Associate - Financial Institutions Department - London

What You'll be Doing:

  • Support development of existing and prospective APAC banks and Global exchanges/clearing houses (including downstream clearing and trading members) client business through cross sell of relevant products and services.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the bank/non-bank FI sector in order to identify key business opportunities within the portfolio through dialogue with clients, product partner collaboration, proactive research, and analysis of financial and other information.
  • Identify lending opportunities within the portfolio based on client needs and our credit appetite. Negotiate terms, prepare a credit proposal and present it to the credit committee. Once local approval has been received coordinate head office approval as well as communication with the Agent bank and internal departments to complete the execution of the transaction.
  • Coordinate with internal business departments and product managers to deliver high quality service and product coverage to FI clients.
  • Collaborate closely with FI Head office and overseas branches to support the development of London Branch FI’s existing and prospective clients.
  • Prepare FI business reports as required by FI HOD, EMC London and Head Office in English or/and in Chinese.
  • Work closely with the specialist KYC/CDD processing team to ensure all necessary AML, KYC, KYB and transactional monitoring information is provided in a timely fashion in line with the respective KYC/CDD policies.
  • Perform and complete a variety of administrative duties when required.
  • Assist in the marketing and business development of the Exchanges & APAC Banks team.

The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Solid business orientation and ability to operate well under pressure, react to immediate business needs, manage multiple project timelines and prioritise tasks accordingly, following through on risks/issues and tracking them to closure.
  • Demonstrate an ability to build client relationships at all levels.
  • Entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset to be able to identify and initiate new business opportunities, including new products or services, and work with internal stakeholders and client decision-makers to deliver.
  • Maintain an up to date detailed knowledge and understanding of the internal policies and procedure related to the FI Department.

Desirable Skills:

  • Degree educated preferably in Business Finance or Economics.
  • Working towards a CFA or equivalent industry qualification.
  • Banking experience including FI, correspondent banking or corporate banking experience with an established network across the industry.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Solid business report writing skills in both English and Mandarin.
  • Financial analysis/accounting skills.
  • Collegiate approach to working with internal business partners, particularly the Product Managers, Head Office and enablement teams such as Risk Management, FI On-boarding and Legal & Compliance.
  • Good interpersonal skills and open minded attitude.
  • Product knowledge across markets and transactional banking.
  • Risk management, core lending and financial skills.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritise.
