Reporting To: Senior Financial Controller

What You'll be Doing Each Day:

  • Payment run processing with banking provider and working with the Treasury and Operations for any funding requirements before payments are made.
  • Ownership of financial recording and bookkeeping tasks within daily (post journals, investigate aging balances and look for resolution, bank reconciliation reviews etc.), monthly & quarterly financial accounting and to ensure timely and accurate month end close for the Branch.
  • Perform and develop existing financial control processes. Assist the team in forecasting, budgeting, monitoring and controlling the operating expense and capital expenditures of the Bank.
  • Assist in co-ordinating the external audit functions of books and records, and financial statements of the Branch.
  • Prepare financial data and reports for business management in the form and at the frequency required by the management committees and the Head Office. Provide cost management information and its interpretation for effective business decision making in the Branch.
  • Constantly strive for enhancements of the finance control framework as well as risk and control oversight process.
  • Assisting in the planning, testing and implementation of systems and processes to support additional financial reporting requirements any other projects which affect the wider Finance team as required.
  • Read and understand the Risk Management & Compliance framework (and the policies referenced therein) and the UK Staff Handbook.
  • Identify, report and escalate material risk events, including conduct risk events and conflicts of interest, or losses to the Senior Financial Controller or Head of Department.
  • Properly use of IT systems and of data, particularly personal data, in accordance with the IT Security Policy and the Data Protection Policy and any applicable departmental procedures.


The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Professional qualification in accounting/finance discipline.
  • Strong academic background and degree educated.
  • Experience working at a similar level, within accounting, banking or auditing fields preferably in the financial services sector.
  • An in-depth knowledge of accounting standards and theory, and financial management principles and techniques, including reconciliation principles, practical knowledge in prepayment and accruals process, experience in planning, forecasting and budgeting, and the ability to apply them effectively in banking environment.
  • Good Knowledge of SAGE and exposure to VAT principles.
  • Proficiency for making financial evaluations and judgments and an ability to present recommendations, both oral and written.
  • Good skills in MMS office and Excel.
