Pop-up recruitment pub opens its doors to jobseekers

Many jobseekers feel like they need a stiff drink after a challenging interview – but what if the interview took place over a stiff drink?

To find out, recruiters and jobseekers need only head to a new pop-up pub created by LinkedIn opening in Manchester today called, (wait for the pun) The Linked Inn (badum tschh).

The pub, which returns after a successful run in London earlier this year, will play host to some of the UK’s biggest companies that are currently on the lookout for new talent in the area. Amongst the slew of names expected to appear are Heineken, H&M and Auto Trader.

Personal advice from LinkedIn experts will be on offer to those looking for help boosting their profiles on the platform and grow their network. A professional photographer will also be on hand on both nights giving people the chance to perfect their LinkedIn profile picture.

So why a pub, we hear you ask? Well, the launch follows the release of research conducted by the company which revealed that 45% of people would rather be in the local pub than spending time applying for a new role, whilst 36% of Brits admitted that it took them longer than expected to search for their current role. Hence the fun solution – bring the jobs to the pub.

“After the overwhelming success of The Linked Inn in London, it’s hugely exciting to be able to open the pub’s doors in Manchester,” said Darain Faraz, Careers Expert at LinkedIn, whilst announcing the updated event. “We want to show that by engaging with your professional network in the same way you would your social network, whether that’s in a pub or online, you can get closer to the job you want. Whoever said the job seeking process had to be a gruelling one?”

The Linked Inn will be open to visitors from today until Wednesday 5th June from 5pm until 9pm. You’ll find the pop-up at the Atlas Bar, 376 Deansgate, Manchester.
