THE NEW NORMAL Job Hunter's Toolkit

Posted 15th September 2020 • Written by People First •

People First have created a “Job Hunter’s Toolkit” which includes tips on answering interview questions, how to succeed in video interviews, advice on perfecting your CV and also useful information to help you during lockdown including upskilling and things to do.

Click the links in the Job Hunter’s Toolkit below for more advice and ideas.

Here are some things you could be doing now, to make sure you’re raring to go, once things get back to some kind of normality.

Focus on you.  As the world seems to be turning more slowly, this is the perfect time to take stock and think about what you really want from life, including your career.  Does your current role fulfil you?  What are your long-term ambitions?   Ultimately, are you happy?  If not, then something needs to change.

Set out your goal and how to achieve it. Once you know what you want, work out what steps you need to take. Do you need to retrain? Do you need to show you are ready to take on extra responsibility? Do you need to put forward more ideas at work? Once you know what you have to do, you are already well on the way to achieving your goal.

Update your CV.  Make sure you’re ready for the inevitable upturn in the job market and present yourself in the best way possible.

Hone your digital interview skills. Many companies have realised that video interviewing is a very efficient way to meet candidates, more organisations will continue to interview in this way (at least for first stage interviews), even post-lockdown.

Learn a new skill or improve your current skills. Many people are using the extra time they have available, now the daily commute is no more, to learn new or improve existing skills. Do you want to learn a language, gain better IT skills, study for accounting qualifications, hone your presentation skills? Now’s your opportunity!

Speak to your People First consultant. Let us know what you want to achieve and how we can help.  We’re all enjoying having more time available to spend with our candidates and getting to know you better.
